George Douglas Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 17, 2010.
Douglas, George Champie
91, passed away Saturday October 2nd, 2010 surrounded by family in Reno, Nevada. George was born June 30th, 1919, in Mayer, Arizona to two Arizona pioneers: Annie Lee Champie and Clyde Douglas. George had an adventurous and exciting life. He began his career as a cattle rancher, and then joined the Army Air Corp as a pilot. He worked as a steamboat captain, a farmer, a real estate agent, and (most of all) loved meeting and visiting with people. George loved automobile travel, especially to his beloved Mexico where he had a cattle ranch. George never lost his passion for each new adventure, always living life to the fullest. He is survived by his wife Ana Douglas and eight children: Donald, Lee, Sue, Denise, Margot, George Jr., Champie and Omar. He also has numerous grandchildren whom he was very proud of and who gave him great joy. Join us to help celebrate the amazing life of this wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Friends and family are welcome to attend the Elk's Lodge in Wickenburg, Az. at noon on Saturday, October 23rd, 2010. Private burial will be at the historic Champie family cemetery near Castle Hot Springs, Az.-
