BREWSTER — Georgette Josephine Yerby Cook, formerly of Sandwich, died peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009, at Epoch Senior Healthcare in Brewster, at the age of 97.

A lifelong sportswoman, Mrs. Cook played tennis, shot skeet, hunted, and was the Junior Amateur Skeet Shooting Champion of California in 1927. Summering with her family in Rhode Island, she met her future husband, Peter Place Cook of Providence, R.I., and after marrying they settled in Sandwich and raised their family. She was predeceased by her husband in 1997.

Mrs. Cook is survived by three children, Peter Place Cook Jr. of Osterville, Penny Rubincam of Wyndmoor, Pa., and Georgette Cook Pola of Sandwich.
