To Gerry's Family,
My association with Gerry goes back to 1977 when my Bank employer transferred me to Edmonton.Gerry helped me gain a working knowledge of the oil industry, especially Kremco, manufacturing oil service rigs.Gerry got a kick out of my embarrassement one December when he was telling me he was working on some "Christmas Trees" which I assumed were the normal seasonal variety rather than slang for a series of pipeline valves. We enjoyed comparing notes about our antique cars and I shared his love for Oiler games.
I will always treasure my warm memories of Gerry and at this difficult time hope the family can focus on the many accomplishments of this special man.

We're very sadened by Gerry's passing. Everyday I come to work it's not the same without Him. I was fortunate enough to spend the last 14 years working with Gerry, and found him to be the greatest role model in the business world. He was the most honourable man I've ever know and feel rich with the information and guidance He has given me over the years.
It wasn't until Monday that it really hit me He was gone. We were moving around some of his old trucks knowing he diddn't get to see it completed. I hope there is a big parking lot in Heaven full of Ford trucks.
Good bye Gerry, you'll be missed.

Gerry was a Great friend and it was nice to pickup the phone to vist with or if you had a problem Gerry always had the answer that would help you out. Not many Old Hands left and for sure not any that can replace our good friend Gerry.

We have lost a great friend and confidant of 38 years. I am grateful that we where able to spend an hour visiting with Gerry a week before his passing. We had a great visit, he was excited that we had come to visit him. As sick as Gerry was he had a optomistic and positive attitude. He still had that Gerry Knoll twinkle in his eye, special grin and sense of humor. Special advice he had that evening was this theory, If an investment advisor drove a real fancy car the guy must know what he was doing. If it was a building contractor driving the fancy car the guy must be charging him to much.
Gerry's advice & freindship will be greatly missed but the memories will last forever. We offer our sympathy to all the family.

I will miss my Uncle Gerald very very much. For as long as I can remember he was one of the most interesting members of my family and it was always a pleasure just to hear him talk. In more recent years, the times that Gerald and Frances (and sometimes Fay) got together with me here in Toronto made for fascinating evenings. Gerald was so bright. Me being a messy person, I don't think I ever could have worked for him -- his reputation as a clean freak went far and wide. When I was a 20-year-old selling vaccum cleaners door-to-door I once got an earful about how clean those rigs had to be. And there was never much point in trying to change his opinions. One of my oldest memories of Gerald is on the train to Expo in 1967 when he had a little too much to drink and Calvin and I conned a $10 bill out of him in some bogus bet. My mother made us give it back in the morning. That was a lot of money then.

So, goodbye, Gerald. The world is a poorer place for your parting.

Gerald was a wonderful and caring person. This is something I had always known as fact. However, I was completely unaware of the extent and depth of his generosity and kindness until rather recently. I will always look up to Gerald and I model him as someone I can hope to be like one day. My deepest sympathy goes out to all those who knew him.

Faye, Carolyn, Lise, Mark & Calvin,

It was with great sadness that I heard of Gerry's passing. Which then caused me to reflect on times that were spent with him over the years, and in particular our many trips to the Barbados. I would like to share a memory from the very first trip to the Barbados with Gerry and Faye. It was early afternoon and Faye and I were relaxing by the ocean waiting for Gerry to show up. Faye looked up and said well here comes Gerald now. Sure enough there he came wearing black dress shoes, black dress socks to just under the knee and bright green Bermuda shorts to just above the knee, one of his signature white shirts and a straw hat perched on his head. As we watched him make his way to us, he began to look up, and high in a palm tree was a local man cutting down palm leaves and coconuts. Well of course Gerry stopped and struck up a conversation, before long the man with dreadlocks to his waist made his way down the tree. Gerry sat and visited with the man for some time. When he finally made his way to our spot he presented us with baskets that the man had woven. He then proceeded to inform us that the man had learned the art of weaving from his Grandmother, he also knew how many children the man had, and how many people that he was supporting in his small house. This is an example of the Gerry that I remember, always interested in everyone that he met. I know that you are all grieving and have some tough emotional times ahead of you, but hope that you can find some comfort in knowing how many people were touched by Gerry's kindness. What a wonderful Legacy he has left behind. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

To Gerald's family - Lise and Carolyn, Fay, Calvin and Mark, may the caring and love of your family and friends bring you some peace during this time. Gerald was a great guy and uncle - I enjoyed my chats with him, particularly a few years ago when Auntie Fran passed on. Hopefully they'll find each other and all the other Knoll siblings in heaven! To Gerry's Family
Gerry was a shining star to all of us at YESS. We loved having him come to visit and share his stories with us. A coffee break with him brightened our day and often left us with much to think about. He had a heart for the kids we work with and will be truly missed as a friend.
