Jerry was a special friend, but most of all one of my mentors! A great human being, Jerry was smart, but calm! I volunteered coaching basketball for 5 years at Curtis and learned so much from him! Surrounded by a great family, Marie, Lisa, Thomas and James, your Dad was a special man! Best wishes to u all!

Jerry taught me some pretty important life lessons through basketball.
I was pretty raw as a basketball player, and pretty raw as a young man. Jerry taught me how to be a teammate, and eventually how to be a leader. He taught me how to be dedicated, committed, and the value of hard work. He was a very smart, analytical coach, and always made the best adjustments for the situation and his players. He treated us with respect, and he gave me the mental and physical tools I needed to play at the next level.
What a great sense of humor, what a leader of young men.
Thanks coach! You made a huge difference in my life!

My condolences go to the Redburg family. He was one of those rare teachers that was tough but fun. He made a subject, which others had problems grasping; seem easy and obvious as we worked the problem. It seems strange to say but we had fun in class as we were taught more than math. I'm lucky to have had Mr. Redburg as a teacher.

While Mr. Redburg was unable to convince me that Geometry was "fun" in the late 1970's at Curtis High School, I still talk about his unique teaching style.

Dear Marie:
I, as I am sure you remember played at Curtis for Jerry during the 72-75 years. Jerry developed me into a successful high school basketball player. He taught me lessons I have benefited from my entire life. He was my coach. I understood Jerry and I loved playing for him. I still cherish the Most Valuable Player Ceramic Mug you made for me, Marie. My deepest condolences to you Lisa, James, Tom and their families.

Dear Marie,
Wanted to express my condolences to you and the family. I was part of the 70/71 championship team and have very fond memories of Coach Redburg. He worked us hard everyday in practice and it all paid off by being the best - State Champs! You and your family are in my prayers.
