Age 63, late of Homer Glen, peacefully Sunday March 22, 2009 at Silver Cross Hospital. Born in Oak Park, living in the area since 1972.

Retired from Commonwealth Edison in 1998 after 34 years of service. A volunteer for the Homer Township Fire Protection District as a Firefighter Engineer and Trustee. Jerry was a recipient of the Purple Heart, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. during the Vietnam War.

Preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Martha (Lasky) Stranski.

Survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Roseanne (Barich), his children Andrea (Danny) Balitewicz of Lockport, Laura (Chris) Scoggins of Lockport and Renee (Dan) Tordai of Martinton, IL; his grandchildren, Alanna, Mirial, Daniel, Jake, Tyler and Hailey; sisters, Vivian Stranski of Lockport, Corrine Stranski of Darien and Norma (late Tom) Soukup of Clearwater, FL. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to JOHA Foundation would be appreciated. Per Jerry's request, cremation rites will be accorded.

Visitation will be held Monday, 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the O'NEIL FUNERAL HOME, 1105 E. 9TH ST., LOCKPORT with a memorial tribute service to Jerry at 7:30 pm. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood on Monday April 6, 2009.
