Gladys Eldena Barrett

Gladys Barrett, age 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 28th, 2018 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Greenwood county, Kansas on December 5th, 1925 and was the youngest of six children. Her father was a farmer and as the Great Depression grew worse, the family moved to Grove, Oklahoma. Shortly after graduating high school in 1942, Gladys, her best friend and sister moved to Long Beach, California to work for Douglas Aircraft, building bombers for the war effort. Gladys married the love of her life Jack Barrett on March 22nd, 1952 in Houston, Texas and years later, they moved to New Braunfels for their retirement years. After Jack passed away, she moved to Sugar Land to be near her family. She was an active member of The First Presbyterian Church and always looked forward to her Wednesday night dinners with The Nifty Fifty Group. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack and daughter Linda. She is survived by her son Jack and wife Courtney, her stepdaughter Kathleen Horcica and husband Jim, her Grandchildren Frankie Sosa and wife Lauren, Suzy Bustos and husband Gustavo, Jonathon Horcica and wife Kim, Caroline and Jeb Barrett, her Great Grandchildren Gustavo and Bella Bustos, Olivia Barron, Frankie Junior and Blayde Sosa, Bromleigh and Aidan Dobson. There will be a Graveside Service on Wednesday, May 2nd at 10 a.m.. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to The MS Society.
