Glenn Gramly Obituary

Published by Beacon News on Feb. 13, 2014.
Gramly, Glenn Merritt Passed away February 11, 2014 at his home with his beloved family and pets surrounding him. Glenn was born July 24, 1938 to Merritt and Evelyn (Faber) Gramly in Aurora, IL. He was a 1956 graduate of East Aurora High School. On August 12, 1961 he married the love of his life, Patricia Wormwood, at the first Presbyterian Church in Aurora. The couple had two children, Jodeen Marie and Timothy William. After graduation Glenn worked as a meat cutter and manager for a super market in Plano, IL. Later working for E.S. Miller Packing as a salesman. Glenn and his partner Myron Rutledge were the founders of Nock & Feather Custom Archery in Aurora and Elgin, IL. His artistic abilities led him to specialize in custom-made arrows that were sent throughout the world. Weekends were a time for hunting trips and archery tournaments. Glenn was a member of Auroraland Archers and Fox Valley Bow Hunters. As well as archery, he loved snowmobiling and boating. Glenn loved turning his hobbies into businesses, by founding Oak Leaf Enterprises, Inc. and Gramly & Associates, Inc.; one being a Manufacturer's representative firm for Arctic Cat and the other a marine marketing business. He also owned the Bounty Hunter, a charter fishing business on Lake Michigan. He and his family moved to Delavan, WI in 1974 when he started purchasing and developing real estate. In 1988 the family moved to their home in Coloma and in 1995 purchased and renovated a restaurant they called "Pot Lickers". Retirement led them to move permanently to their lake home in Rhinelander, WI, later moving back to Coloma and building a new home. Glenn was an avid NASCAR fan, placing friendly wagers with his son and Coloma friends on race day. He loved his pets, especially his constant companion his golden retriever, Nugget. Glenn was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose for many years. Glenn is survived by his wife, Patricia; his son, Timothy "TG" (Sommer Shand); a brother, Dean (Audrey) Gramly; sisters-in-law, Sharon Pagel, Renee (Jack) Weis, Kathy Gramly; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jodeen Marie Gramly; father, Merritt Marl Gramly; mother, Evelynn Marie (Faber) Gramly; brother, Gary Gramly; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur Grant and Marie Jane Wormwood; and his brother-in-law, John Pagel. In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial fund to benefit Adams County and Lakeland Animal Shelters. Donations can be sent to Hancock Community Bank in memory of Glenn Gramly, P.O. Dear Patty and Tim. My deepest sympathies to you on the passing of Glenn. What a great, fun guy. I'm in Florida and I just got word. I'll always remember a time as a little kid with my Dad, Uncle Art and Glenn in the Wormwood basement, eating goulash and listening to their hilarious stories. I know the're back together telling some good ones again. Sincerely, Tom Rogers and Family.
