Glenn Harrison, 85 years, from Albany OR, died on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at home. He was born on April 28, 1939, in Albany to Russell B. Harrison and Altha E. Green. He has one brother, David G Harrison, who was born in April of 1945.
Glenn grew up in the Albany School District attending Albany Union High School. He graduated with Honors with the Class of 1957. He attended OSU and received a BS and MS in Mathematics. At the U of O, he received a MS in Mathematics.
On June 16, 1962, he married Carol A. Stowe. They have two children: Nancy Ann (Jan. 1968) and Sherry Lynn (July 1970).
Glenn, more commonly known as Mr. Harrison, taught Mathematics at Central Linn High School in Halsey for 32 years. He retired in 1993. He also taught Nighttime College Math at Linn Benton Community College for 15 years.
Glenn was always into serving his community. As a youth he was an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. As he grew older, he was on many Boards of Directors. He was part of Oregon Education Association (President), National Education Association (President), Oregon Public Employees Retirement System and Linn County Oregon Retired Education Association (President). Glenn helped his political party with the distribution and collection of political signs during the voting seasons. After retirement, he became very interested in History, particularly Linn County, Oregon and the Oregon Trail. He was a member of the Oregon California Trails Association (President) and Linn County Historical Society (various offices and President). He was the author of the Linn County Historical Society newsletter. He loved genealogy and would help others trace their ancestry.
Recently Glenn was reporting to the family that he has been the longest member of the United Presbyterian Church in Albany at 77 years. He was 9 years old when he became a member. During his time at the church, he was part of the Budget and Finance Committee and also served as an Elder. He loved helping with the history of the church and the stained-glass reconstruction.
Glenn enjoyed playing an electric guitar as a young boy, camping, boating, hiking, and cross-country skiing. He also enjoyed traveling in the USA and abroad. He had hobbies of collecting rocks, sharks' teeth, miniature trains and Hallmark Ornaments. He loved taking pictures of windmills and waterfalls and reading of the Oregon Trail history.
Glenn has two grandchildren: Reina and Hunter Watkins
There will be a Viewing on Wednesday, May 7th from 4 – 6 PM at Fisher Funeral Home. This will be open to all that knew Glenn.
A private burial will be held Thursday, May 8th.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 10th at United Presbyterian Church at 10AM. This will be open to all that knew Glenn.
