Goldie Lee Berry July 16, 1915 ~ March 26, 2014 LUBBOCK- Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Goldie Berry, passed on to eternity, on Wednesday, March 26, 2014. Her life was summed up in one word: love. A love of life, love for her family, love for her friends and most of all, love for her Savior and his word. She was born in Bellevue, Texas, on July 16, 1915, to Dona and Milton Huffhines. She was the oldest of four siblings, Nolan, Faye, and Edward. She was a devoted mother, loving wife, supportive sister and aunt. She was an apparel buyer for Lathams Department store in Lubbock, a gardener, and helpmate to her husband on the farm in the Panhandle of Texas, an oil painter, a seamstress, and an accomplished pie maker as well. She lovingly shared her gifts with others. Above all, she was a great inspiration and encouragement to those who knew her and will be sorely missed. Goldie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Noel Berry; her son, Douglas Warner Sanders, Sr.; and her siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Poteet and husband, Bob; grandchildren, Kandice Poteet, Douglas Sanders, Jr. and his wife, Brenda, Jana Sanders, Kelly Poteet Stafford and husband, Bob, Kristi Poteet, George Sanders; great-grandchildren, Trey Sanders, Layne Sanders, John Scott Sanders, Stephanie Sanders, and Reagan Berry Poteet. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 28, at the Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ in Arlington, Texas. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at Tech Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lubbock Children's Home in her honor.
