H. von Waldow Obituary
Of Hampton Township, passed away quietly, on Saturday, December 15, 2007 at the age of 83. He was the beloved husband of Brigitte H. von Waldow, father of Arnd N. von Waldow and Gisela Pillow, and is also survived by five grandchildren, Travis Pillow, Dustin Pillow, Rachel von Waldow, Cassidy Pillow and Danielle von Waldow. Born on December 23, 1923, in Jena, Germany, Eberhard, a professor of theology, was passionate about his students and teaching the Old Testament at the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, strengthening Jewish-Christian relations, supporting WQED-FM, and nurturing his flower garden. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 23, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, 615 Grant Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15219 (across from US Steel Tower). Parking at Mellon Square or Smithfield/Liberty will be validated in the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to support the German Christmas Services at First Lutheran. Arrangements by the THOMAS M. SMITH FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, Blawnox.
