Harry T. King, 104, died Monday, May 21, 2012 at the home of his daughter Betty, in Fairfax. He was the husband of the late Mary "Mick" Gordon King, who died in 1988.
Harry was born in Ferrel Va., to Henry Howell King and Clara Smith King. He was the oldest of eight children. Harry lived in Charlottesville Va., and Gapland, Md. during his high school years and it was during that time that he met his wife to be. They married in Washington, D.C. on April 13, 1929 and lived in Hagerstown Md., Annapolis, Md., Richmond, Va., Grottoes, Va. , and Harrisonburg, Va., before settling in Springfield, Va. since 1968.
Harry and Mick had three children Betty Seay, of Fairfax, Robert King of Front Royal, and Ronald King of Houston, Texas, Harry better known as , " De-Da " has nine grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.He also is survived by his brother Willard W. King of Staunton, Va.
Harry retired from Coca Cola Co. at age 70, having worked in the Harrisonburg Va., Plant for many years as office manager, before moving to the Silver Spring, Md. Office, from where he retired. Before that he worked for Roth Enterprises throughout the Shenandoah Valley managing theaters. Harry also sold cars and was the projection operator at the local drive- in in Harrisonburg. Many years prior he was the telegraph operator in Annapolis Md., and worked for Dupont in Richmond Va.
Harry when celebrating his 100th birthday, was featured on the Today Show with Willard Scott.
Service to be held Tuesday May 29,2012 at 11 a.m. at the National Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at National Memorial Park Cemetery all in Falls Church, Va.
Donations will be appreciated by the family to Capital Caring Hospice,4715 15th st. N, Arlington, Va. 22205.

We are sad that Harry is no longer able to laugh his hearty laugh on this earth, but we hope that his family and friends can never forget the fullness of his joy in living.
