Henry Fields Obituary
FIELDS, Mr. Henry Ford- age 74, of Flint, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 11:00am Wednesday, February 2, 2022 with a 10:30am family hour at Sheldon T. Banks Funeral Chapel, 3021 S. Dort Hwy., Flint, MI 48507. The final resting place for Mr. Fields will be Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI.
Mr. Henry Ford Fields was born August 27, 1947 in Ferriday, Louisiana, the son of Mary Fields and Calvin Collins.
He was a resident of Flint, Michigan and a graduate of G.W. Griffin High School in Lake Providence, Louisiana. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He loved to play music. He would play music at work every day that caused his coworkers to name him ‘Blues Man’ at Buick City, a division of General Motors, where he was employed for several years. He was also a member of the UAW.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his special companion of 15 years, Tina Johnson of Flint, MI; 3 children, Melvin Fields of Detroit, MI, Monica (Ronald) Washington of Little Rock, AR, and Nikeisha Fields of Flint, MI; 4 grandchildren, Lania Styles of Flint, MI, Samerica Fields of Little Rock, AR, Kaprice Fields and Neveah Smith of Detroit, MI; 3 brothers, Arthur (Betty) Collins of Jonesville, LA, Herman Collins of Baton Rouge, LA, and Leroy (Lorraine) Coleman of SC; 4 sisters, Queen Fields of Flint, MI, Mary (Lynell) Drumgoole, Molly (Oscar) Hilt of Ruby, LA, and Sue Gaithe of Baltimore, MD; 12 nephews including special nephews, Omoro Collins and Curtis (Stephanie) Fields all of Flint, MI; 7 nieces including special niece, Cheryl Fields of Flint, MI; several cousins including special cousins, Lawyer Redman and Willie Barber both of Flint, MI; in-laws, Betty Collins, Lorraine Coleman, Ruby Coleman and Bernice Collins; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Henry Ford Fields was preceded in death by: mother, Mary Fields; father, Calvin Collins; 2 sisters, Dorothy Brown and Judy Collins; 3 brothers, Calvin Collins, Willie Rogers and Oliver Coleman.
The family would like to express special thanks to our church families, and to all who have prayed, called, sent flowers and cards.
