I was greatly blessed to meet Nenry for the first time several years ago, when I became engaged to a cousin, William Moulton Graves, Jr, and I was heartbroken to hear of his passing. Henry welcomed me so graciously and I was thrilled to hear later from several people that he not only approved of me, but loved me! In his presence you felt his kind spirit, great intelligence, and noble character. He was truly a Renaissance man of wide ranging interests and extraordinary talents. He was the epitome of all that is great about the Greatest Generation, and my, and all subsequent generations, owe him everything. May God bless Henry, now and always, for he was a blessing to so many Americans who never had the chance to know him, but are still reaping the benefits of his service in World War II. Sincerely yours, Rebecca Jackson

Howard Hook introduced us decades ago. He and my mother were Met Opera supporters. Had one or two visits to the Fifth Avenue house for meals with Mr & Mrs Hoffstot, Howard and Mildred Posvar. It was a pleasure, an honor, a privilege. My deepest sympathies to his children.

My father, Charles Brooks, a member of SAR, knew Mr. Hoffstot over a period of years. He always had kind things to say of Mr. Hoffstot and found him to be very engaging and interesting. Eleanor Brooks Lucas
