Rev. Herman H. Rohde

Rev. Herman H. Rohde, of Issaquah, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 15, 2002 in Issaquah. He was 84 years of age. Rev. Rohde was born on August 12, 1918 in Grand Island, Nebraska, the son of Hans and Katie Rohde. He graduated from North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1942. He married his college sweetheart, Joy, May 1, 1943. Rev. Rohde became an ordained Minister of the Assemblies of God in February 1, 1945. Rev. Rohde served as a pastor in Mitchell, SD, Winnebago, NE, Bassett, NE, where all four of his children were born, and Worthington, MN. In 1960 he was elected to serve as Minnesota District's Executive Secretary/Treasure for the Assemblies of God. In 1964 he was elected Minnesota District Superintendent of the Assemblies of God and served in this role for 25 years, retiring in 1989. Rev. Rohde has served on many boards, including the Board of Regents for North Central Bible College (North Central University) since 1956, as Executive Presbyter of the Assemblies of God for eight years, the Greater Minnesota Association of Evangelicals, Board of Directors for the Central Indian Bible College, Teen Challenge of Minnesota and the National Assemblies of God Home Missions Board. Rev. Rohde received an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Divinity from North Central University in 1989. Rev. Rohde and his wife moved to Issaquah, Washington in 1996 to be near family. He has been very active at Eastridge Christian Assembly where he served as an Elder. Rev. Rohde is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joy, of Issaquah; sons, David, of McFarland, WI., Dennis, of Westlake Village, CA, Richard, of San Diego, CA., and daughter Roberta McMaster, of Sammamish, WA.; three brothers, Rev. George, Rev. Erwin, and Rev. Clarence Rohde; 14 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Hans and Katie. A time of visitation will be held from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. Friday, October 18, 2002 at Flintoft's Issaquah Funeral Home, 540 East Sunset Way, Issaquah, 98027. A funeral service will be held 10 A.M. Saturday, October 19, 2002 at Eastridge Christian Assembly, 5025 Iss-Pine Lk. Rd. SE., Issaquah, WA., 98029. Private internment will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton. The family suggests remembrances to the Herman and Joy Rohde Scholarship Fund at North Central University, Minneapolis, MN, or Eastridge Christian Assembly.
