Hillard was a man who courageously took a personal approach to everything he pursued, in addition to being a natural born leader, a scientist with brillant ideas and a people motivator. As the president of the Los Alamos National Laboratory Club 1663, he was determined to make his dream of a Wellness Center a reality, so that Lab employees would be able to enrich their lives through exercise, improved nutrition and overall holistic wellness. Being that I have been residing in Asia, it is with tearfull regret that I had learned of his passing too late (2018) to attend the gathering at Fuller Lodge. I will remember you, Hillard, and my heart and prayers will be with you, Cheryl. May you be filled with peace and joy, to accompany those loving memmories of Hillard.

I had the privilege of having Hillard as a friend for many years, and although we had not been in touch for a long time, I treasure the times shared in church, high school, college and beyond - and particularly when he was there for my family in times of sadness. He was such a special person, and brought so much to those around him....I am so sorry this note is so late, but I just got the news yesterday. My prayers go with you.

I had the pleasure of working with Hillard and Cheryll in safety, health physics, and risk management quite a few years. Sorry I missed his memorial service, Cheryll. I didn't know what an ordeal you and he were going through. I wish you God's peace.

Hillard was a a lot of fun to exchange ideas with and to collaborate with on physics topics. I especially enjoyed and learned from his broad interests.

Hillard and I worked at LAMPF in the early '70s. We had a common thread but was not work. Three of us Hillard, Don Nichols and I (Cecil Stark) all owned Porsche sports cars. He has a 911 Targa, Don had a 912 and I had a 356B. We use to park the three cars next to one another in the parking lot of the LOB at LAMPF. Other people had Italian cars but we claimed to have the best cars manufactured. So sorry to hear of his passing.
