Howard E. Krein, 80, Bismarck, died November 13, 2005 at his home. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at Calvary Free Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev.  Kerry Stastny officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery.

       Visitation will be from 1:00 to 9:00 PM Thursday at Eastgate Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service at the church.

       Howard Edwin Krein was born June 23, 1925 on a farm north of Hebron, ND, the son of Edward and Elizabeth (Lennick) Krein. He was raised and educated in the Hebron area. On April 13, 1948 he married Corrine Erdmann in Hazen, ND. After their marriage they lived in Beulah, ND for four years before moving to the Bismarck-Mandan area. Howard was a home builder and founder of  H + L Sharpening + Tools which he owned and operated until he retired in 1990.

     Howard was a member of Calvary Free Lutheran Church and the Dakota Central and Western Model Railroad Club. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, farming, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

       He is survived by his wife, Corrine; his children, LeRoy (Joy), Leland (Marella), LeWayne (Debra), Lynelle (Jay) Chapman and Lloyd and special friend(Kathy Berrios); eighteen grandchildren, Melissa Krein (Dave) Williams, Christopher (Sara) Krein, Angie Krein (Michael) Bloom, Tim (Danica) Krein, Nichole Krein (Wayne) Marchus, Marc (Krista) Stone, Jessica Stone (Jeremy) Hageman, Michael Krein, Travis Krein and special friend (Rachel Moore), Sheila Krein, Sheri Krein, Matthew Krein and fiancÚ (Kayla Beckler), Jeremy Krein, Nathan Krein, Kristen Chapman (Shane) Dullum, Jay Chapman IV, Sarah Chapman, Jennifer Chapman, (Dominic Berrios) and (Dante Berrios); his thirteen great-grandchildren, Alexis Williams, Alandra Williams, Christopher Krein, Samantha Krein, Addison Bloom, Seth Marchus, Jayden Marchus, Sean Marchus, Kara Hageman, Blaize Krein, Madison Dullum, Kylie Krein and (Tate Beckler); and his two sisters, Irene Roemmich and Marion Emter.

       He was preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter, Stephannie Krein; and three brothers, Reuben, Arnold, and Vernon.
