Irene Singer

Singer, Irene November 10, 1928 - March 1, 2014 Irene joined the Women's Army Corp in 1948, was stationed on Governor's Island, NY where she met and married her husband of 62 years. She is survived by her husband Henry; five children, Marilyn Singer, Bonnie Lind, Donna Savoy, Gerald Singer, Daniel Singer, and four grand children. While the children were growing up, she elected to be a stay at home mom and raise the children. When they were all in school, Irene went back to college, earned a bachelor degree, attended graduate school, studied for and passed the Certified Public Accounting exam. She continued on to teach accounting at Butler Community College until she was employed by the Air Force where she served as an auditor and Deputy Finance Officer at McConnell Air Force Base in Kansas. She was also an active partner in the Econtax Tax Service business. Irene volunteered her services to numerous causes. She was a Gray lady at a local hospital, tutored children with reading problems, prepared taxes for AARP, and taught bridge for beginners at the senior center. She was loved by all and will be sorely missed by her husband and her children.
