Isabelle M. Romano

Isabelle M. Romano (nee Briguglio) 96, 60-year resident of Hasbrouck Heights, a woman of God, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend entered into Eternal Life on Friday, November 8, 2019. She was born in Hoboken to the late Joseph and Margaret Briguglio. Before retiring, she and her husband in partnership owned, built and managed Robert's Jewelry, Union City, Rad's Jewelry, West New York along with a successful women's fashion store - Famous Fane, Union City. Isabelle was a forerunner in desiring both a family enjoying quieting enjoying her children and a professional career. Quiet, small in stature and gentle but very formidable with an indomitable spirit. Isabelle's deep lived faith was her life compass. Her great love and devotion her life as a parishioner of Corpus Christi R.C. Church in Hasbrouck Heights where she was a Daily Communicant, Eucharistic Minister, member and past president of the Rosary Society. Isabelle's most gratifying ministry was being a member of the Perpetual Adoration Team; a member of the Friends of the Library in Hasbrouck Heights. Isabelle in 1998 joined the Holy Name Bereavement Group where she met her dear friend Mary Ellen, whom she introduced to her son Joseph. One year later Mary Ellen and Joseph joined in Holy Matrimony. She was a volunteer at the Palisades General Hospital Gift Shop spreading her message of love. Isabelle a member of the Serra Club an organization dedicated to promoting vocations to the Priesthood and Consecrated Religious Life. Member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Italian Community Center in Union City supporting Family and Italian Culture; a Lady of the Holy Sepulcher. One of her most beloved ministries was sponsoring a yearly retreat for women at the Villa Pauline in Mendham, NJ. Many of those retreats directed prayerful women to closer unity with God. Isabelle's quiet generosity and grace made her a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Beloved wife of the late Deacon Joseph R. Romano. Devoted mother of Deacon Joseph S. Romano and his wife Mary Ellen, Victoria Dickson and her husband Deacon Joseph "Drew", Mary Micale and her husband Philip and Isabelle Van Sickell and her husband Bill. Dear sister of Agatha Schaeffler and her late husband John, Clara Fanelli, Johanna Oertell and her late husband Allen and the late Carmella Castellucci and her late husband Frank, the late Carmine Briguglio and his late wife Agatha and the late Rocco Briguglio and his late wife Terry. Sister-in-law of Oreste Ciardi and his late wife Julia and the late Ralph Romano. Loving grandmother of Jennifer and her husband Josh, Andrew and his wife Emily, William, Clarissa, Anthony, Ashley, Joseph, Philip and Isabella. Cherished great grandmother of Eleanor and Caroline. Funeral from Costa Memorial Home Boulevard and Central Ave. Hasbrouck Heights on Tuesday, November 12th at 10:30 AM. Funeral Liturgy from Corpus Christi R.C. Church at 11:30 AM. Interment following at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation Monday, November 11th from 3-7 PM at the funeral home.
