James Fritch Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 13, 2015.
James Paul Fritch, age 86, of Goshen, Kentucky, formerly of Bloomington, died Saturday evening, December 12, in Morgantown, Indiana. Born August 10, 1929, in New Unionville, he was the son of William Leslie and Creasie Pearl (Fielder) Fritch. James met the love of his life, Dee, in high school and spent 62 years loving and respecting each other. James dedicated his life to service as a soldier of the Korean War and a high school teacher and coach in Hutsonville, IL, and a principal in DeMotte and Garrett, IN, and superintendent of schools in Western Boone and Rensselaer, IN. James, who was very wise and deeply humble, loved honesty and the simplicity of a country life. He believed in building up others and getting everyone involved and feeling important like a good point guard does in basketball. He thought that everyday citizens should be recognized for their good deeds before public figures. He was quiet and unassuming but unafraid to lead when necessary. He was a member of the Burton Woolery American Legion Post #18 and V.F.W. Post #604 in Bloomington, the Free and Accepted Masons, Scottish Rite and the Shrine as well as Sherwood Oaks Christian Church.

He is survived by his two daughters: Cynthia (Peter) Williams of Goshen, KY, and Cheryl Ashton of Ft. Wayne, IN; two grandchildren, Rachel Williams and Luke Williams, one sister, Rosalie Fleetwood of Marion, IL, and one brother, Jack Fritch, of Bloomington.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Edna Dee (Teague) Fritch, in 2013.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home; 4150 E. Third St. with burial in Bridge Church Cemetery. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Legion Post #18 or to the V.F.W. Post #604.

Prairie Lodge #125

The officers and brothers of Jim's Masonic Lodge in Rensselaer were saddened to hear of our brother's passing, but we celebrate his life with his family and friends. We were all richer knowing him both through the Lodge, and in life.
