James P. Gillooly

SHREWSBURY James P. "Jim" Gillooly, 77, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015, with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of Nancy L. (Guerin) Gillooly, to whom he was married 55 years. Viewings will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 12 at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom. A funeral liturgy will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, March 13, at the mortuary, with the Rev. Sylvan P. Capitani officiating. Interment is in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, New Freedom, with full military honors by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Jim was born April 2, 1937, in Baltimore, Md., a son of the late James F. and Virginia M. (Jones) Gillooly. Jim retired from Texas Instruments, Hunt Valley, after 15 years of service. He joined the U.S. Air Force at 17 and proudly served for 21 years during both Korean and Vietnam wars. He was past Commander of Parkton American Legion Post 256 in Parkton, Md. He was a member of Ancient Order of Hibernians Division #4, and St. Johns Old Timers 10th Ward, both in Baltimore, Md., and a member of New Freedom V.F.W. Post 7012. Jim was "always fixing something", liked to cook, and enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by a son, Tim Gillooly and his wife, Julie of Glen Rock; two daughters, Linda Cover and her husband, Troy of Spring Grove, and Patricia Eidson and her husband, James of Whitesburg, Ga. Also survived by six grandchildren, Scott and Travis Cover, Kayla Shephenson, Jay and Rebecca Eidson and Sarah Hughes; four great-grandchildren, Brianna, Mason, Hailee and Jameson; and a sister, Madge Kenly and her husband, Buzz of West Virginia.
