James Hoyt

Hoyt, James L. "Jim" 85, of Mobile, AL, and formerly of Zion, IL, died on Sunday, October 2, 2011, at home, in Mobile. James was born May 7, 1926, the son of Newton and Harriet (Moss) Hoyt. His early years were spent in the Zion area until he retired from American Motors in 1986 where he plied his trade as a sheet metal worker. He since has lived in Mobile, AL, and has spent many years involved in two local music clubs. Survivors include his wife Lorna "Nell" Hoyt; six children, Arland (Beverly) Hoyt, Audrey Rooks, Alan Hoyt, Arnold Hoyt, Arthur (Brenda) Hoyt, and Andrew Hoyt; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; three sisters, Margaret Ower, Vivian Hyllberg, and Lois Campbell; three sisters-in-law, Ila Eklund, Joyce Holland, and Dorothy Ostrander; and many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by a daughter, Annette Ries; granddaughter, Jenny Ries; and son-in-law, James Rooks. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 7, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion.
