Jamie Dickmeyer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 8, 2024.
Our beloved daughter and sister passed away too soon, leaving a huge void her father Jim Dickmeyer, mother Lisa Elijah, sister Sarah Dickmeyer (Jacob Freeman) and brother Henry Dickmeyer (Jenny Shen) will find impossible to fill.

Jamie was blessed with an energy and dynamism that made an indelible impact on everyone she brought into her life. Truly larger than life, she was generous, big-hearted, kind, fierce, and vulnerable. Jamie embodied the strong yet sensitive warrior. Adventurous, determined, ambitious, super smart, and quirky, Jamie was many things, but she was always just Jamie - unique and unforgettable. Her smile could light up a room and soften hearts. She deeply loved her family, friends, and her beloved cats Bruce, Peach, and Leo.

Jamie took great pride in her independence and achievements. Her smile shined bright as she accepted her GED on stage at Shoreline Community College in 2015. She excelled at bodybuilding, transforming herself through hard work, dedication and study to become a strong competitor in bikini showcases. Jamie was so proud of herself on stage with a trophy and tiara at the April 2019 Emerald Cup, where her hours of intensive gym prep, dieting, and posing practice paid off as she placed first in the True Novice category. When Jamie put her mind to a goal, she accomplished it.

Her intrepid character took her around and beyond her Seattle home. Jamie's warm-hearted kindness and friendly disposition as a barista, dancer, coach, and server left an imprint on people from all walks of life. On any given night, when she was not bench pressing in pink Beats headphones at a 24-Hour Fitness, Capitol Hill residents could walk by karaoke bar Hula Hula to see Jamie belting "Summertime Sadness" and "Party in the U.S.A." at the top of her lungs or cheering on neighbors brave enough to take the stage. She loved to travel: to the Bahamas to stand underneath shark exhibits at an aquarium, to Las Vegas and Arizona to see friends and spend time in the desert, to New York for Nobu and family and particularly to Hawaii, her #1 happy place, where she'd dip her toes in the water and look for sea turtles. She absolutely loved the ocean.

Jamie defined herself by who and what she loved. Her capacity for connection was expansive. When she discovered a new band or musician she liked, she'd listen through their whole catalog. She was a skilled thrift shopper, often finding rare, luxury, or just plain interesting items. If there was a dog, cat, or baby nearby, she always went out of her way to give them special attention. Jamie made friends wherever she went, engaging in genuinely friendly conversation with whoever she encountered. She seemed to know an employee by name at every restaurant or coffee shop in her neighborhood, as well as the best items on the menu. She felt pride in her friends and loved ones, celebrating their accomplishments like they were her own and carrying their struggles in her own heart. She possessed an incredible memory for people and could recall the briefest of conversations years later.

Jamie is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, bodybuilding coaches, and colleagues. She is predeceased by her grandparents John and Virginia Dickmeyer and Lester and Joyce Elijah, and uncles John Dickmeyer and Larry Elijah, all of whom welcomed Jamie with love and open arms.

A celebration of life will be held March 30, 2024.

I know Jamie as one of her customers. I was very saddened to see this site come up of her passing when I googled to find her schedule. She was very nice to her customers. I think she had a magnetic personality and energy. She was always involved in many things and seemed to do well at all of them. The bodybuilding accomplishments that were achieved in such a short time were just amazing. It shows her undying spirit. I think anyone that knew her even casually were positively affected by that spirit. My prayers to her family and friends.

Oh Jaime, words can't fully capture how much you meant to us all. Your energy was like a beacon, drawing everyone close with your warmth and boundless enthusiasm. You had this incredible way of making everyone feel supported, showing the kindest, most generous heart. I remember how you'd drop everything, no matter what, just to be there for a friend in need. One of my fondest memories with you was right before your birthday. You mentioned how much you'd love to go to the Bahamas and stay at Atlantis. It was a dream you harbored quietly, but with such longing. In a heartbeat, inspired by the amazing friend you were, I found myself saying, "Why not now? Let's do it!" And, just like that, we were off to the Bahamas, celebrating your special day. That trip was unforgettable, a testament to our friendship's spontaneity and great times. Also, your determination knew no bounds, Jaime. Seeing you get into fitness, I couldn't help but suggest bodybuilding, knowing if anyone could shine, it was you. Your dedication and drive were unmatched, and sure enough, you stormed through your first bodybuilding competition, taking first place. Your success wasn't just a personal triumph; it was an inspiration to us all, a vivid example of what passion and perseverance can achieve.

Writing this brings a heavy heart, a mix of sadness and disbelief at the thought of not seeing you again. But my love for you remains, strong and enduring. My thoughts are with your family and friends, praying for peace and comfort during this tough time. Jaime, you were truly one in a million, and your light will forever shine brightly in our memories.
