Janko Panijan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 9, 2005.
PANIJAN - Janko, John. It is with deep regret that we announce John's passing on Wednesday, April 6th, 2005 in the Palliative Care Unit at St. Paul's Hospital. John was born in Hrast, Slovenja, former Yugoslavia, on August 28th, 1934. He immigrated to Saskatoon in 1958 and endured many hardships at that time. John was predeceased by his parents and one sister in Slovenja. He is survived by one son and his family; two brothers and their families in Slovenja; his special friend, Shirley Ulrich and her family, and many special friends. John spent thirty years of his working career at the U of S in Custodial Services. He retired in 2000, having spent only five years of enjoyable retirement. It was John's request that there be no funeral. An Informal Memorial Reception will be held on Monday, April 11th from 1:00 4:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion (3021 Louise St., Saskatoon). Special thanks go out to the Palliative Home Care and Palliative Care Unit nurses and volunteers. You truly are all angels. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Paul's Hospital Foundation Palliative Care Unit (1702 20th St. W, Saskatoon, SK S7M 0Z9). Arrangements are in care of John Schachtel MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES (978-5200).
