Jean C. O'Neil Haskell

OSTERVILLE — Jean Clement O'Neil Haskell, 85, of Osterville, died Nov. 27, 2008, at Cape Cod Hospital.

The daughter of the late Milan and Agnes O'Neil of Hyannis, she graduated from Barnstable High School in 1940 and from the Hyannis Teacher's College in 1944. She taught second grade for two years and was a longtime CCD teacher.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dr. Charles C. Haskell. She was the mother of four sons, Charles Jr. and Pam of Pawcatuck, Conn., Steven and his wife, Debbie, of Dennis, Richard and his wife, Elisabeth, of Osterville, and Tom and his wife, Carol, of Port Orange, Fla.; sister of John O'Neil of Hingham, and Jim and his wife, Judy O'Neil, of Jacksonville, Fla. She was also survived by 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Jean was presented the Marian Award from the Diocese of Fall River. She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church Guild for 50-plus years. She was a member of the Horticultural and Historical Society of Osterville.

She shared a deep love for her faith and her family.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Wianno Avenue, Osterville, on Monday, Dec. 1, at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held in the John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Road, Marstons Mills, on Sunday, from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial is in the Massachusetts National Cemetery at 12:45 p.m.
