Jesse James Alexander

Jesse James Alexander, 71, of Lufkin, was born August 14, 1940 in Shelbyville, Texas, the son of the late Annie B. (Wilburn) and James H. Alexander. He passed away Thursday, August 2, 2012 in a local hospital. Mr. Alexander worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator. He was a devoted father and grandfather. He enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, and loved hummingbirds. Mr. Alexander was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Survivors include his daughter, Debbie Dominey of Lufkin; son, Kester Alexander of Diboll; grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Joyce and Jock Dominey, Amanda and Tiffany Alexander, and Cody Leger; 7 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Martha Alexander of Lufkin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Hershel Shoemaker of Lufkin and Judy and Robert Nelson of Irving; sister, Kathy Griffin of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. Mr. Alexander was preceded in death by his parents; mother of his children, Joyce Scoggins; son, Johnny Alexander; and granddaughter, Candice Alexander. Pallbearers will be Jacob Dominey, J.J. Griffin, Phillip Shoemaker, Joshua Dominey, Aaron Dewberry, Ronnie Richburg, and Steven Nunn. Services for Mr. Alexander will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 4, 2012 in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Bro. Keith Woolf officiating. Interment will follow in the Berry Cemetery. Condolences may be offered at www.gipsonfuneralhome.com.
