JOHN LLOYD BONE
The family of John Lloyd Bone regret to announce his passing on September 29 after a brief illness from leukemia. Lloyd was born in Rosetown, Saskatchewan in 1921, son of John Bone and Mary Campbell Bone, pioneer immigrants from Scotland. He started school in Ridpath, attended school at Anglia and East Gap, then went to Rosetown High School. He completed his Grade Twelve at Wiseton. In addition to attending school, Lloyd devoted much of his time to assisting on the family farm. When he became of age for military service, he joined The Royal Canadian Airforce and was posted to several different stations in Canada before his discharge at Comox, BC in 1945. He decided to prepare for missionary work and attended Emmaus Bible College in Toronto followed by a year of medical training. In 1951, he left for India to join missionaries sponsored by Brethren Assemblies. One of the first persons he met in India was Eileen Doughty, a missionary nurse from England. Lloyd and Eileen were married in 1953. They went to live in Ambala, India where they established and developed a Christian congregation which they served until 1970 when they came to Saskatoon with their three teenage children. They attended Fairhaven Bible Chapel. While having a home in Saskatoon, they made several extended trips back to Ambala and other places to assist with work in the Assemblies. In 2001, they moved to Parkdale Manor in Vancouver and joined the fellowship of Sixteenth Avenue Gospel Chapel. As part of his participation in the work of the chapel, Lloyd taught Bible Study classes and classes for new immigrants. His last class was in June of 2012. Left to mourn Lloyd's loss is his wife, Eileen; his children Philip (Elizabeth), Eunice Kimball (Del), Ian (Beverly); and grandchildren Andrea (Ryan), Jill (Ed), Sean (Jenny) and Jenni. Lloyd leaves three great-grandchildren (Lily, Sadie and Maddox); and also two sisters Margaret Leaker and Georgina Bone; and a niece, Anne Neufeld (Ed). He was predeceased by an infant son, Paul, and by two sisters, Rev. Jane Bone Nelson and Ella Bone. The memorial service will be held at Sixteenth Avenue Gospel Chapel on October 20.
