John Louis D'Ausilio

John Louis D'Ausilio, age 93, of Stratford, Connecticut passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 25, 2023. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, Elvina (Scinto) D'Ausilio. Born in Bridgeport on December 2, 1929, he was the son of the late Leon D'Ausilio and Helen (LaLuna) D'Ausilio.

John attended Waterville School and Harding High School in Bridgeport before enlisting in the U.S. Navy where he proudly served during the Korean War from 1950-1954.

After serving our country, John joined the Bridgeport Fire Department (1958-1984), retired at the rank of Lieutenant and was a founding member of the Bridgeport Area Retired Firefighters.

John owned and operated several successful businesses during his lifetime including a travel agency and three liquor stores. He also worked with his son, David, in real estate.

He was inspired to give back to the community through many volunteer activities including Treasurer and member of UNICO, the Council of Italian American Society, the Marchegian Society, and doing taxes for seniors through the IRS/AARP Tax Aide program for 25 years from 1997-2022. He was also a member of the Police and Fireman's Association.

John loved his family very much and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Survivors include his children John Leon D'Ausilio and his wife Terry of Port St. Lucie, Florida; David D'Ausilio and his wife Terrie of Stratford; and Anthony D'Ausilio and his wife Nancy Humphreys of Newtown. He adored all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom will dearly miss him including John Lawrence D'Ausilio, Ian D'Ausilio, Christopher D'Ausilio, Cori Anderson, Rowan D'Ausilio, Richard Pfeifer, Jr. and Cynthia Pfeifer. His great-grandchildren are James, Caleb, and Isaac Anderson; Benjamin and Zachary D'Ausilio; Meghan Pfeifer and Richard Pfeifer, III.

John leaves behind a wonderful brother, Frank D'Ausilio, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his other siblings Lillian Landau, Eleanor Paris, Joan Fleisher, and Robert D'Ausilio. He was also predeceased by his stepdaughter, Deborah Pfeifer.

John was grateful to his partner, Rose Palmeiro, as they shared each other's love later in life.

It was his wishes that there be no calling hours or public funeral. Private services will be held by his immediate family.
