HUGHES, John A. "Jack" Of Venice, FL formerly of Springfield, OH and Marietta, GA passed away peacefully at his home September 13, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. John was born February 6, 1938 in Dayton, Ohio. He was a very outgoing person who dearly loved his family and cherished his many friendships. John served in the National Guard and was a successful businessman working with Amoco Foam Products for 30 years. John approached life with energy and creativity in everything he did. His passion for lifelong learning inspired his family, friends and professional associates. He enjoyed tennis, golf, cards, traveling and especially loved time with his family. He was a devoted husband, proud father & grandfather and a friend you could always count on. He adored his children and grandchildren and never missed a special event in their lives. His smile, letters, poems, stories and love will live forever in our hearts. John loved his community. He volunteered with special needs children at Venice Presbyterian Buddy Break Program; was a member of Pelican Pointe Golf & Country Club and an ambassador for Venice, Florida. He also served as a former Stephen's Minister for Roswell United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Lowell and Margaret Hughes, his first wife and mother of his three daughters Virginia McManaway Hughes, and his sister and brother-in-law Helen & Jerry McNutt and brother-in-law, Roger Hogue. John is survived by his beautiful wife, Flora Wagner Hughes; his children Debbie Hughes Pike & Chris Pike, Becky Hughes Lovvorn & Keith Lovvorn, Leanne Hughes Dennis & Randy Dennis, Andrea Davis, Lynne & Mike Diedrich, and Tommy & Teresa Speros; his loving grandchildren Taylor Pike, Daniel Lovvorn, Meghan & Taylor Cook, Shelby Lovvorn, Rachel Dennis, Amanda Dennis, Jordan Pike, Tyler Pike, Anthony Davis, Lee Davis, Gus Speros, Kaley Speros, Gunner Speros, Camille Diedrich and Matthew Diedrich; his precious great granddaughter McKinley Ann Cook; his sister Janet Hogue; nieces & nephews Mike & Debbie McNutt, Sandy & Bob Seigle, Mark McNutt, Greg & Suzanne Hogue, Jeff & Debbie Hogue; great nieces and nephews, and sister and brother-in-law Becky & Jim Picolo. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30 PM, September 23, 2017 at Venice Presbyterian Church. Services in Springfield, Ohio and Marietta, GA will be held at a later date.
