It is with great sadness, but with gratitude for a life well lived, that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father, Papa. He passed away peacefully at his second home Cavell Gardens on December 26, 2017 at the age of 95 years, with his wife Shirley by his side holding his hand. He is survived by his loving wife Shirley of over 53 years and children Kevin (Noriko) Marie (Les), Brian (Oliva). Grandchildren, Christina, Michelle, Nathaniel, Kurtis, Brianna, Alexandra, Jessica. He had many fond relatives in Czech Republic especially his niece Jana Studentova and son. John was born in Bystrice Pod Hostynem, Czechoslovakia. He was a loving, caring, thoughtful compassionate, intelligent, hard working visionary. John was an Entrepreneur, reaching out to others, never thinking of himself. He was a devoted Father, he had a love for music and singing, a creator of beautiful flower gardens. He was an enthusiastic traveller, dreamer, believer, a devoted and supportive spouse. He leaves many fine legacies for his family and friends, the greatest of which he set is the example of how to live life well and honourably. He taught us values and morals. Three things he lived for was his strong FAITH in Jesus Christ, his FAMILY and FREEDOM for which he escaped following the war. The family will be forever grateful for the care he received in his last few months. Special thanks to granddaughter, Christina. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritans Purse International Relief of Canada. Funeral with Viewing and Burial Services will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, B.C. Celebration of life will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Cavell Gardens, 2835 Sophia Street, Vancouver.
