Julie Ann Hafer

Julie A. Hafer, age 47 years, passed away suddenly at her home in Mt. Adams on Sunday morning March 1, 2009. Julie was a 1980 graduate of Finneytown High School and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and Communications from Heidelberg College, now Heidelberg University, in 1985. She was a graduate assistant for Heidelberg from 1987 to 1990 while she pursued her Master's Degree in College Student Personnel from Bowling Green State University. After receiving her Masters from Bowling Green, Julie assumed the position of Director of Career Planning and Placement at Heidelberg in 1990 and held that position until 1997. In 1997, she assumed the role of Associate Dean of Students until 2004. She was Interim Vice President of Student Affairs for the Fall Semester of 2001. Julie was active in Alpha Phi Tau and through her encouraging spirit, made Heidelberg a wonderful place for students to live and learn, often guiding students on their career paths after college. Julie was currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership from Mt. St. Joseph College in Cincinnati and was active in Women Writing for a Change. She is survived by her beloved parents, Harold C. and Elaine (Giesman) Hafer; her Aunt, Janet Withworth; her cousins, Dan (Julie) Steers, Mary (Dale) Wiethe, Fred (Denise) Koch and Richard (Pam) Koch and many dear friends. Friends may call at the Miller-Busse & Borgmann Funeral Home, 3464 Central Parkway at Clifton Hills Ave. (Clifton) on Thursday March 5, 2009 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday March 6 at 11:00 AM. Burial will immediately follow at Vine Street Hill Cemetery. If so desired, memorials may be directed to the Ferris and Dorothy Ohl Endowment, c/o Heidelberg University, 310 E. Market Street, Tiffin, OH 44883 ATTN: Kathy Venema or to the charity of the donor's choice. A Memorial Service will be held at Heidelberg University on Sunday April 26, 2009 at 2:00 PM in the Herbster Chapel, 310 E. Market Street, Tiffin, OH 44883.
