It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Keld Angelo Johannesen.
He is survived by his children Vic (Betty), Rick (Gigi), Monique (Gil), and Fred (Melanie); grandchildren Shauna (James), Larissa (Geoff), Alison (Dave), Jared (Jenna), Kathryn (Tim), Melanie (Andrew), Mark (Deanna), Ryan (Danielle), Jessica, Sierra, and Ashley; as well as great-grandchildren Kaiya, Byron, Bryce, Jude, Leo, and Mea. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Richina.
In 1928, Keld Angelo Johannesen was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. A man of many skills and a readiness to work, Keld delivered milk and bread before and after school. At 14, however, Keld left school to work full-time. Keld moved around, working in a butcher shop for a while; delivering telegrams for the post office on bike; window cleaning, and in 1948, spending 18 months in the Danish Army. After the army, he was ready for a change. In August, 1951, Keld immigrated to Canada, in search of adventure, a future and… the love of his life. That same year, he met Richina, and in 1952 the two were married in Edmonton.
During his working career, Keld worked for Waterloo and CN Telegraph, the House of Light and T-Bert Electric, among other places, before starting KVR Electric in March, 1979 and buying Park Lighting in 1980.
After raising a family, the couple travelled extensively to places like Mexico, Israel, Europe and the United States and have taken numerous cruises.
In addition to his children, Keld was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 6 great- grandchildren who loved him and were very loved by him.
A public Viewing is scheduled from 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. this Saturday, June 7th, at Foster McGarvey Funeral Home, 10011 114 St. NW. A private family Interment will take place at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. A Memorial Service will be held at Providence Canadian Reformed Church, 12905 – 122 Avenue, Edmonton, AB on Monday, June 9, 2014 at 1:00 p.m.

Personal anecdote … Mr. Johannesen (that's who he was to me) heard that my partner and I did roofing jobs. He asked me for a quote which I provided. I told him we had never done a low slope roof before. He said “You won't be able to say that anymore after you finish this one.” I've never forgotten that!
