Kenneth Carlisle Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 20, 2017.
Kenneth Alton Carlisle Sr. (September 26, 1951 –
March 18, 2017)

A native of El Paso Texas, Kenny called the Dallas area home for nearly four decades. Ken worked his entire career in the warehousing industry. He got his start in El Paso with Prices Dairy and worked at several companies in the Dallas area to include Bradner National in Carrollton, Butler Paper/Unisource, and Clampett Paper Company. During the course of his career, he was widely known and respected in his field. However, he was probably as well known for his ability to barbecue. Throughout his lifetime he was sought after to cater and his smoked meat was legendary at the "Annual Company Picnic." For a brief time, in the 1990s, he was the proprietor of Ken's Backyard Barbecue. The restaurant received rave reviews and his signature baked bean recipe was published by the national company which canned the base bean ingredient. Another of his passions was music. When he hired a band for the grand opening of the restaurant, he picked up his own guitar and joined in as time permitted. He loved fishing and the Dallas Cowboys, winning or losing. His friends and family will remember him as kind, loving, generousand a man of his word.

Ken is survived by the love of his life, Lourdes, his wife. She and Ken were completely devoted to one another. Kenneth is also survived by his son, Kenneth Alton Carlisle Jr., whose move to Dallas as a small child with his mother, was the motivating factor that led to Ken's Dallas relocation in the 1970s. He also called Shedrick Calloway his son. He was a dedicated father and proud and loving grandfather to Demeatric Calloway, Ladarius Carlisle, Aerial Carlisle, Kyira Carlisle, and Leila James.

The eighth of ten children, Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Alex Carlisle Sr. and Lucille Carlisle; two sisters, Brenda Carlisle Ruffin and Dolores Del Jimerson Vieira; and three brothers, Charles Ray Jimerson Sr., John Allen Jimerson, and Alex Carlisle Jr. The remaining siblings mourn the loss of
their dear brother; Alvin (Barbara) Jimerson of Thousand Oaks, California, Curtis (Linda) Jimerson Sr. of Danville, California, Linda (Herman) Harris of
St. Louis, Missouri, and Jeffrey (Lisa) Carlisle of Centralia

Surviving in laws include Pearl Jimerson of Dallas, Claudette Jimerson of Nyack, New York, Palmer Ruffin of Murrieta, California and Wilma Carlisle of Spruce Pine, North Carolina.

Other inlaws include daughter Leah (Wes) James, Austin, Texas and Marlon (Jiasamine) Abenio, Austin, Texas.

Ken will be incredibly missed by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins, as well as a host of lifetime friends and coworkers. Kenny touched countless lives with his love of life and the joke of the day. His memory will live on in the joyous memories of those who knew and loved him.

Kenneth Alton Carlisle Jr. will be profoundly and deeply missed by his family, friends and colleagues. The heavens are truly rejoicing that one of their own has returned home.

Lourdes - I didn't know Ken personally, but I know he was a sweet and thoughtful and special man - from his generous gestures of sending us his delicious bar-b-que, and by all the flower deliveries he sent you that I was lucky to deliver to you and by the smile on your face when you talked about him. I and all of Intrepid are sending prayers your way.

I've known and worked with Ken over the past 28yrs. Through the ups & downs and trials & tribulations that life throws us, Ken always had kind words and a warm smile.

From the annual Butler Paper Picnic, Unisource BBQ's, to walking through the Bradner National warehouse to the wafting smell of brisket in the morning, Ken was at his best, doing what he loved most......making great BBQ.

I had the privilege and pleasure of making Ken's 65th birthday cake for his surprise party last September. What a fun time catching up with friends and family at the lake.

My heartfelt sympathy to his wife, Lourdes, and the Carlisle family.

Rest in peace my friend, you will be missed, but remain in our hearts forever.

I am saddened by the news that Kenny has transitioned, but I pray for comfort for the family as you remember and cherish all of the fond memories of such a wonderful man. Surely, he will be missed. Speak his name and he LIVES! God Bless all of the family and know in peace, he rests with our Lord and all he will reunite with in glory. May we live our lives so we can see him again.
