Kirk and I used to laugh SO HARD together. He had the greatest sense of humor. And he was such a fine musician. Whenever our band (Horizon) needed chord changes for a song, he was right there with them.
I miss him so much and I think about him a lot. Life is not the same without him, for sure. I hope that Marianne, young Kirk and Bethany are all doing well. Life is short. We love you Kirk. Eddie Lenz

Mary Ann,

There is more that I would like to share with you about Kirk than was possible during my brief visit this afternoon. If I may, I'd like to put a few things in writing that you may find comforting. If that is acceptable, please respond to my email address below with an OK.

To the Engel family,

I was totally blown away yesterday when I heard the news. My sincerest sympathy and condolences. Your Christmas card last year said it best- "Some People make the world more Special just by Being in it". Kirk was definitely one of those people! He'll be gigging with the Lord this weekend. I wish I could be there. My love and prayers are with you all,

Jeff

Mary Ann,

I learned from Sally's death a year ago that "FOOTPRINTS" is true.

When I couldn't take another step, Jesus carried me until I could once again walk. It is true for me. It is true for you. If I can do ANYTHING, call me. May the Lord be with you.

Love,

Eddie Lenz

I knew Kirk for several years and was sort of a mentor to him during his professional career as an engineer at the Bettis Laboratory. During that time, I got to know him well. Even though I never met his family, I knew from how he spoke of them that he was a devoted family man. We talked often about our mutual interest in music - but mostly he talked, with obvious pride, about his kids. As an engineer, he was top shelf all the way. Great concern for accuracy and attention to detail was his forte.

Although, I haven't spoken with him in several years, I have often thought about getting in touch - how I wish now that I had. The world has lost one of the good ones and many will miss him!

Dear, dear Mary Ann and family:

What can you say at a time like this. Having been through this six years ago, I know exactly how you feel although I/we had some warning. You did not. Life truly is unfair sometime. My deepest condolences to you and all the members of your families and be assured Kirk (and you) will be added to my prayers. I know God will give you the strength to get thru this - hang in there. Bless you.
