KURT E. REICH December 22, 1931 - March 5, 2017 "All I have needed thy hand has provided"

Opa Kurt passed away peacefully at the age of 85 encircled by the love of his family. Predeceased by his beloved 1st wife of 48 years Lilly (nee Bonkowski); survived by his loving wife of 14 years Angela (nee Reisewitz), his four children, David (MJ and grandchildren Jenny and BJ), James (Sheldene and grandchildren Kayla and Karlee) Kathy and Melody (John) and step sons Tim (Mandy and step grandchildren Simon and Emily), Peter (Caroline and step grandchild Hayden) and Oliver (Choom).

Kurt was born in Lodz, Poland to Martin and Eugenia (nee Fabian) Reich, the youngest of three sons. His early years were spent in Poland but at the outbreak of WWII the family fled back to Germany. Following the death of their Mother and younger half sister, the three boys immigrated separately to Canada and Kurt was the last one to arrive. While learning English he took a job as a mechanic at the American Can Company where he remained for more than 40 years.

On the first blind date of his life he met a beautiful flower named Lilly. Over the course of their life together they raised 4 children, living first in Vancouver and later in Surrey, BC. After Lilly's passing in 2002, and on the 2nd blind date of his life he met a compassionate angel. Kurt married Angela in 2003 and enjoyed a close and loving relationship filled with many adventures. Two blind dates, two fine marriages - 2 for 2!!

Opa Kurt will be remembered for his strong work ethic, integrity, generosity and acceptance of all who crossed his path. He was a magnet for children and they loved him. His love, humor and wisdom will be greatly missed. He was ever faithful to God who has now called him home.

Memorial service Saturday March 11 at 1 pm at Fleetwood Christian Reform Church at 9165 - 160 St Surrey, BC V4N 2X7. In lieu of flowers please donate to Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC or Alzheimer's Society of BC.
