McGovern, Lawrence O., M.D. (Larry) b. Sep. 21, 1932 in Phila, PA, d. on Dec. 10, 2011 at the age of 79 at home in Annandale, MN. He is survived by his daughters, Anna Ashcroft and Molly McGovern. Larry was a general surgeon, an avid rugby player, and served as a pilot in the Navy. He loved a good laugh, classical music, and will always be remembered with a cigar in his hand. All are welcome to attend his memorial service Sat., Dec. 17. Visitation at 11:00, service at 12:00, reception to follow, Cremation Society of MN, 7110 France Ave S., 952- 924-4100. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, 2329 S. 3rd St., Phila, PA 19148.

I had the pleasure of working with Larry at North Memorial Medical Center for many years. I shared the joys of his wedding and the birth of his daughters.
I will keep my good friend Kris, Anna and Molly in my prayers. I know Larry will be missed.
