Brownlee Lela McDonald Brownlee, age 84, long-time resident of Prospect Park, died unexpectedly Friday, March 22, 2002, from an accidental fall. Lela was born in Bear Creek, Montana. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree at Montana State University, where she met her husband to be, economist Oswald H. Brownlee. Oz and Lela were married for 45 years until his death in 1984. She will be dearly missed by her sister, Clare; her children, Barbara (Ira) Drillick, and Dick; her grandchildren, Ben, Patrick, Peter (Heidi), and Sarah; and her great-grandson, Jett for whom she was a true second mother. Also she will be truly missed by her many friends, including those wonderful and supportive members of ``Nimble Fingers,'' ``Friday Knitters,'' ``The Book Group,'' and ``Under 3 Flats Trio.'' She was an avid traveler, theater, film and concert goer and supported all of the arts. She was healthy and active until the last moment, being with and helping those whom she loved. Memorials preferred to Animal Humane Society.

We would like to offer our sincere sympathy to Lela's family. Lela was a beautiful person who was warm and loving to her family and friends. She was graceful, artistic and musically talented. She and Oz appreciated the arts, especially fine music. We met Lela and Oz in Ames Iowa in 1946. We will sorely miss our friend of almost 56 years.

Please accept my sympathies. She was a good neighbor. She was always gracious. I was touched that she came to Vincent's funeral service., gloria hawkinson
