LeRoy (Andy) Anderberg

LeRoy (Andy) Anderberg, 79, of Fraser CO, died Friday, February 20, 2015 at St Anthony's Hospital in Denver CO. Andy was born December 30, 1935 in Sioux Falls SD. He grew up, was educated and graduated from Washington HS. He enlisted in the Air National Guard in 1954 and Honorably Discharged from the US Army 1957. He entered College at Augustana and in 1958 he started playing football for Coach Bob Burns and became the star halfback, defensive back and Most Valuable Player. In 1959 he was the all-conference running back and in 1960 the Honor Athlete. In 1960 he graduated from Augustana with a BS in Business Administration. He continued his education at George Williams college in IL where he organized the proviso Y, a branch of the Oak Park IL YMCA in graduate study for Group Work Administration. He ventured to the Winter Park Ski Resort from 1970-74 where he was Marketing Director. Circumstances led him back to the Y in Sioux Falls where he became Vice President of the Y in charge of Physical Ed and Building Operations. He was united in marriage to Deborah Willey from Beresford, July 11,'81 at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. In 1982 he became executive Director of the Stevens Point WI YMCA for 5 years and then the YMCA of Springfield IL for 17 years. He retired in 2004 and moved to Winter Park CO area. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife; Deborah Anderberg and his daughter Jessica Anderberg of Fraser, CO, his sisters, DeEtta Simons of Eau Claire , WI and Evelyn McFarlane of Harrisburg SD, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Mother Gertrud Erickson Anderberg 1977 and his Father Floyd Anderberg 1980, both of Sioux Falls, SD.

A Memorial service will be at 10:30 am Saturday, May 2, 2015 at First Lutheran Church Chapel, 327 S Dakota Ave, Sioux Falls, S D 57104

The family has designated the YMCA for memorial contributions.
