Leslie Smith Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 12, 2017.
Leslie Mae Smith, age 58, of Acworth, Georgia, passed away on June 9, 2017. Leslie was born in Kenton, Ohio, on February 22, 1959, and was the daughter of Linda Roberts (husband, David), Rushylvania, Ohio, and the late Howard Hensley, Douglasville, Georgia. Leslie enlisted in the Army in 1977, and she proudly served our great country until 1999. She was ranked to Sergeant E7 and was stationed all over the world. She was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Meritoral Service Medal and The Good Conduct Medal. She had a degree of Applied Science Education and a degree of Applied Science Management from the Georgia Military College.

Leslie is preceded in death by her younger sister, Vicky Hensley and niece, Tyler Davis. Leslie is survived by her beloved sisters Jolie Davis (and brother- in-law, Jerry Davis) of Acworth, Georgia; and Toni Buroker (and brother-in-law, Mack Buroker) of Kenton, Ohio. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews whom she spoiled and loved as her own. Leslie had three chihuahuas that were her pride and joy: Jimmy Joe, Honey and Bug. She had such a love for all living creatures. She loved gardening, loved flowers and enjoyed being outside. There was nothing more important to Leslie than her Jesus, her family and her fur babies.

There will be a celebration of Leslie's life this Saturday, June 17, at the home of Jolie Davis, 5698 Brookstone Walk, Acworth, Georgia, from 2pm to 5pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that anyone who would like to give a donation can do so to their local humane society.
