Lloyd Barnes Obituary
Mr. Barnes was born in Pulaski and graduated from Metter High School and lived many years in Guyton before moving to Brooklet 15 years ago. He retired with 43 years of service from the Union Camp Corporation and was a member of Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed spending time outdoors and especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by his parents, William Tilton and Dolan Williams Barnes; and a brother, Wayne Barnes.
He is survived by wife, Blanche Barnes of Brooklet; son, Lloyd William Barnes, and his wife, Kim, of Pulaski; three stepsons, Billy Cook and his wife, Marina, of Newport, Tenn.; Lewis Cook and his wife, Cindy; and Grady Cook and his wife, Angie, all of Brooklet; daughter, O'deborah Arnsdorff and her husband, Tony, of Guyton; four sisters, Elsie Huggins of Oliver, Karen Woodcock of Metter, Rachel Rossen and her husband, Tony, of Statesboro, and Geraldine Boyette of Pulaski; aunt, Melba Hendrix of Statesboro; 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 18, at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 19, in the chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Elder Tyler Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Upper Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Aunt Blanche and my big cousin Jr, we are all shocked and saddened by the loss of Uncle LW. My earliest memory of him was playing checkers with him at the pond house - he taught me to play and then always let me win. And he even let me play his guitar! (He was brave!) We were looking forward to asking him and Aunt Blanche to Caroline's first recital in a couple of weeks - he was always so proud and encouraging of my children's music and the kids all thought y'all were so sweet to send them cards and things. Just a couple of weeks ago, we found one of his guitar picks down in some stuff he had given us probably 35 years ago. I was looking forward to giving it back to him. Lots of good memories. Love y'all, and we know God loves you and has a plan for all of you, even if it's hard for us to understand it. May His peace comfort and surround you.

JR., Brandi, Amber & all the Barnes family, I was so shocked & saddened to hear of LW's passing. He was always such a sweet man who never seemed to meet a stranger. Take comfort in knowing he's in a better place & you all have an angel watching over you now. You will never entirely be over the pain of his death but you will learn to live with it & one day smile at all your precious memories. God bless you all.

Fly high papa!! Words can't even describe what I'm feelin right now... From one family member to the next my love is with all of us as we face the up comin days to lay papa aka LW to rest.. He was truly an inspiration in my life as well as others. There was never a full moment any time he was around.. Love you all may god put his healin hands on us to help and protect us! Fly high papa! We love you to the moon n back and truly miss you!!

Still can't believe he is gone :-( I remember when LW use to dress up like Santa on Christmas Eve and Uncle Carl would pull him on a trailer to our house just to pretend to be Santa Lol!! Sorry for yalls loss!! He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by everyone!! Fly high uncle LW I love you and miss you so much I was looking forward to the reunion so I could see you :-( !!!

Dear Jr., I am truly sorry and heartbroken for the loss of Mr. L.W. (as I always called him.) I know how close you were to your daddy and what an influence he had on your life. He had an AMAZING personality. He taught you well, and you learned so much from him. Your daddy knocked on our door every two weeks to visit and to see & play with Alyssa. He also left his mark on her, your precious "Tooter-bug". We were all so very blessed to have had him in our lives. He will be greatly missed. R.I.P. "MR. L.W., DADDY, PAPA.
