Lucy Fisher
CAPE ELIZABETH -- Lucy Fisher died peacefully on May 24, 2007, in Portland. She was the beloved wife of the late Curtis Fisher and a devoted mother to her three children.
Lucy is survived by her son, Curtis Fisher Jr. and wife Judy; her daughter Connie Bartlett and husband David and her daughter Christiane Newton and husband James. Lucy was a loving grandmother to nine grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren.
Lucy was born on Aug. 26, 1909, in Millertown, Newfoundland. She moved to Lisbon Falls, when she was three years old and remained in Maine until 1941 when she and her husband moved to Massachusetts where they raised their children.
Lucy graduated from Farmington Normal School with a degree in Elementary Education in 1928. She was an elementary school teacher in Rumford for nine years until she married Curtis Fisher in 1937. Lucy taught her students poetry and she continued to recite poetry until the day she died at the age of 97.
Lucy was a lifelong Red Sox fan who enjoyed knitting, crosswords and spending time in the garden, but her passion was raising and caring for her family. She was an active member of the Second Congregational Church in Holyoke, Mass., and also attended the New England Presbyterian Congregational Church in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Lucy was full of spunk with a great sense of humor. She will be forever loved and missed by those who knew her.
A private memorial service was held at St. Albans Episcopal Church in Cape Elizabeth on Saturday, May 26. Arrangements are under the guidance of Independent Death Care, 471 Deering Ave., Portland. An online obituary and guest book is available at www.independentdeathcare.com.

I am so sorry for the death of your Mom. I grew up next to her in Holyoke and looked at her as the epitome of what a Mom should be! She left me with many memories and I shed a few tears on hearing of passing to a better world! When i leave this world i hope we go to the same place and I can give her a hug!

We were so sorry to read about the loss of your mother. She was such a wonderful person, neighbor and a great friend to our parents, Tony and Mary Conlin. We share in your sorrow as we lost our mother just days before Lucy passed away. We understand the void that you are experiencing and pray that the memories of these beautiful women will fill that void. Our sympathies are extended to all of you during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

The Conlin Family

I was so sorry to hear of Lucy's death, but am so blessed to have been a part of her life. While working at Village Crossings, Lucy was what made my day special, and the person who brought a smile to my heart everyday. Her sweet face and sense of humor will live with me forever. God bless you Lucy...
