Malcolm DUNLOP Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 17, 2021.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Malcolm Dunlop, on November 15, in his 97th year, surrounded by his four loving children. Predeceased by the love of his life Vida, a mere six weeks prior. We take comfort knowing that after being married for 72 years, they are together again for eternity. Left to mourn are children Andrew (Julie), David (Joy), Alison Morrison (Duncan) and Malcolm (Jenny). He was a much-loved grandpa and pappy to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Having immigrated from Scotland in 1948, he loved sharing stories about his youth and particularly the wee tunes that our children will indeed pass on to the next generations! Malcolm was a very proud retiree of Stelco, a job he truly loved. He and Vida lived an amazing life together, traveling extensively but were happiest when surrounded by family. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Aberdeen Gardens for their exemplary care and to the staff of 5West at the General Hospital for their care and compassion. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 20th, visitation at 1:00 with the service to follow at Bayview Cemetery, 740 Spring Garden Road, Burlington. In lieu of flowers, donations to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 720 Ninth Avenue, Hamilton would be appreciated. The family ask that those in attendance respect COVID-19 protocol.

My Mum, Helen McNeil Hannah and your Mum were friends from childhood through to adulthood. She often spoke of Vida, Malcolm and Mrs. Ragg with high respect. Your Mum stood up for my Mum when she married. So sorry you have lost both parents, after 72yrs they needed to be together.

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived. Malcolm was such a fine man and always loved to share a funny story or laugh at one I would save to tell him. May he rest in peace now with his sweet Vida together again.....this time forever.

Our sincerest sympathy to you Andy, David, Alison, Malcolm and families. Malcolm was like a dear uncle to me and my family. He and Vida gave us love and family ties and really were the catalysts to us moving to Canada in the 60´s and a huge part of our family life thereafter. They generously hosted my Dad while he settled in to a job and found a home, enabling us to follow. Always and forever those family bonds tie us together and we will miss Uncle Malcolm´s spirit on this earth.
