LAKELAND - Marie T. Bass has gone to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 22, 2015.
She was born on June 7, 1938, to Thomas and Mary Tempest in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
She was preceded in death by her Daughter, Lisa Metzler, Parents, Thomas and Mary Tempest and Sister, Patti Rodgers.
Marie is survived by her Husband, Shelton Bass M.D. of 58 years, Brother, Larry Tempest (Penny), Daughters, Michelle Buijsman (Paul), Tempie Bass (Paul Beard), Son, Tom Bass (Howard Roth), Grandchildren, Leah, Kathryn, Ginny, Marcie, Trinity, Tucker and 6 Great Grandchildren.
She was involved in multiple services and charitable organizations which included, but not limited to, Lakeland Garden Club, the Bowtique, Founding member of the Speech and Hearing Center and past member of the Junior Women's League. She was an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church.
Marie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a generous person by nature and had a larger than life personality.
She was a chef, a restaurant/food consultant, and a realtor. She worked with some of the top chefs in the world. She was known for her cooking and her chocolate sauce.
A vitiation will be held on Friday, January 8, 2016, from 5-7 pm at Heath Funeral Chapel with a service Saturday, January 9, 2016, at 11 am at All Saints Episcopal Church. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Burial Park.

Like so many, I loved Marie. She was like a second Mother to me. She always made people feel so welcomed in her home. Like my own Mother said, "The heart of that home is now gone." I will miss her greatly, and always.
