My family often saw Mayor O'Malley at Forest Hills events, and he was so friendly and outgoing. We really enjoying talking to him, and my daughters loved seeing him on Election Day. Condolences to his family, and our deepest sympathy.

Dear O'Malley Family,
I was so sorry to hear this news. Marty was a very kind, active man who passed on too early. As both a resident of Forest Hills and a member of Thomas Merton Center, I know that he will be sorely missed by many people. You are in my thoughts.

Sympathy & kindest regards to the O'Malley family & friends wherever they may be. I saw Father Jack at Joe Natoli's funeral, worked with Margaret, et. al., at 119 Court House 1989-91. Hazel Smith (Hafer) once said that I knew everybody in Pgh.; Lots of folks were on jury duty, etc., etc. Lots of special memories of those days. Take care. I skipped the trip, re: weather etc. Hope to catch up with old friends down the road. God bless 1 & all. Take care.

My sincerest condolences to the entire O'Malley family. I taught Jack O'Malley at Shady Side Academy some years ago, and fondly remember the family as being thoughtful, grateful and supportive of the school and its teachers for their children. I am so sorry for your loss and wish you comfort and peace in the days, weeks and months ahead.

We were neighbors of Marty & Joann for 25 or so years on Cascade Rd. We fondly remember Marty stopping traffic on our street because the children were riding their big wheels. He even insisted that we all buy flag poles to attach to the big wheels so that cars would be aware of our children. He was a light in the Forest Hills Community and we shall always remember he & Joann. Our sincere sympathy Maureen, Mary Brennan & Jack from Sandy & Hugh Vandergrift, Beth Mink & Nathan Vandergrift and families.

Marty was our neighbor for 25 years or so in Forest Hills. Our kids grew up together and Hugh & I will always remember Marty flagging down motorists on Cascade Rd. to slow down because the children were riding their big wheels. He even insisted that we all buy flag poles to attach to each Big Wheel for safety reasons. Maureen, Mary Brennan and Jack, please accept our heartful sympathy. We had a good relationship with both Joann & Marty and he was a light in the Forest Hills Community.

I grew up with Marty on Stanley St. and went to St. Rosalia Grade School together. He was among the regulars of the kids playing Red Rover, 4 Corners, and Release at the corner of Alma and Stanley Sts. Always polite and kind even as a kid, Marty was an honorable leader. My sympathy to his family.
