Mary-Jane Wilmot Lee, 84, died on May 8, 2014. She was pre-deceased by her husband James J. Lee Jr in 2003. She was the daughter of the late Percy Llewelyn Wilmot and Helen Mary Stiles. She was born on July 29, 1929 and grew up in Willimantic spending her summers and the remainder of her life in Niantic CT. She married James J. Lee Jr. in Sept. 1950 and they gave the world five children: John of Windham who married Sharon Kozin; Cynthia of Niantic who married Mark Konney; Jeffrey of Mansfield Center who married Sheri Handfield, and Marybeth of Columbia who married Chris Fiore. She was pre-deceased by her son James J. Lee III. She also leaves 6 grandchildren, Jason of Davidson, NC and his wife Melanie; Joshua of Windham; Morgan of Niantic; Patrick and Shaun of Mansfield Center, and Anna of Columbia. She leaves two great grandsons of Davidson, NC, Trevor and Dillon. Mary-Jane is also survived by her siblings, Richard of El Paso Texas, Anne of Essex CT, Carol of Glastonbury CT and Jean of Portland Oregon. Mary-Jane was a 1947 graduate of Windham High School and she was employed for many years by the Town of Windham in the tax office and eventually became the Tax Collector. She was an extremely talented artist who could work in practically any medium. She also enjoyed knitting and needlepoint and was very crafty. She was an extremely social woman who enjoyed almost daily luncheons with her friends at various Niantic restaurants. But, most of all, she loved hosting friends and family at her Niantic beach home, where she was fortunate enough to spend many years sharing her life and creating fond memories. Mary-Jane will be interred at the Stiles vault in the Old Willimantic Cemetery opposite Stop & Shop on Main Street in Willimantic. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with a celebration of Mary Jane's life immediately following at the Willimantic Elks Lodge. There will be no calling hours and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Center for Hospice Care Southeast Connecticut, 227 Dunham Street, Norwich, CT 06360 or Hospice of Eastern Connecticut, 34 Ledgebrook Drive Mansfield, CT 06250. Al and Judy Acker

May 13, 2014

To John, Cindy, Jeff and Marybeth, As you very well know the Ackers and your family have known each other for many years and it is always sad when an friend of long standing dies. Just to remind you how long it has been since Al and your mother were friends she used to help Al bait his lobster pots!! We have many wonderful memories of such things as bonfires on the beach. We have missed Mary in the window this past year or more. Please know we are thinking of you all today and sorry we can't be with you. Minor health issues for both of us are keeping us away. We look forward to seeing you all in person as summer approaches. Meanwhile we send our deepest sympathy to you, your spouses, your children and John's grandchildren. With love, Al and Judy
