Mary TAILLEFER Obituary
October 11, 1918 - May 18, 2012
Mary died peacefully at age 93 in North Vancouver on May 18, 2012. Predeceased by father Ronald, mother Florence and sister Noreen, she will be sadly missed by son Geoffrey, grandchildren Corynne and Owen (Nadine), great- granddaughter Eden, nieces Janet (Lyall) and Dianne (Dave) and nephew Ron. Throughout her long career as an elementary school teacher, Mary was an advocate for children, particularly those who were disadvantaged. Her legacy lives on in the lives of her former students who benefitted from her caring attention and unrelenting belief in the value of education. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Knox United Church, 5600 Balaclava Street, Vancouver, followed by a 1:00 p.m. reception at Brock House Restaurant, 3875 Point Grey Road, Vancouver.

Mrs. Taillefer was my Grade 3 teacher...about 57 years ago...and I have never forgotten her. A few years back I was able to contact her, by telephone, and express my appreciation. I wanted her to know that largely because of her modelling, I also became a teacher. My warmest thoughts to her family, Christine Hough, Pitt Meadows, BC

Mrs. Taillefer was my neighbour when I was a child. She was always a wonderful lady and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her.
