Mary TUCKER Obituary

Published by Saskatoon StarPhoenix from Nov. 19 to Nov. 20, 2012.
TUCKER, Mary
The family is saddened to announce the passing of Mary Tucker on Friday, November 16, 2012 at St. Paul's Hospital surrounded by her family. Mary passed away one month shy of her 90th birthday. Left to Celebrate her Life is her daughter Leona and son-in-law Paul Shewaga; granddaughter Penny and husband Byron Gipman; great grandson Jax; two sisters Josie Haliuk and Stella (Dave) Nickel; two sisters-in-law Sophie and Rose Kielbiski as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Mary is predeceased by her husband Peter; parents Margaret and Joseph Kielbiski; two sisters Jean (Sam) Draginiuk and Ann (Bill) Dwornik; brother-in-law Bill Haliuk; and five brothers Tony (Mary), Stanley, John, Mike (Phyllis) and Frank (Olga).
Mary was born and raised in the Meacham area. She married the love of her life, Peter, on November 2, 1944. Peter and Mary lived and farmed for many years in the Prud'homme District. They moved into the town of Prud'homme when their only child Leona started to attend school. Farming was still the focal point for Peter, and Mary kept busy with what she adored - raising her daughter and becoming one of the world's best cooks and bakers. You always got excited when you knew you were going for a visit because that meant a wonderful meal and a ton of baking followed by a couple card games of Kaiser. When Peter's health began to deteriorate, they moved to Forget Towers in Saskatoon where their next phase of life began.
They very much enjoyed living at Forget Towers and even after Peter passed on in 2001, Mary continued to live alone at Forget Towers up until this past July. Mary was so fortunate to have had so many close relationships while residing there. You knew you would never be able to get a hold of her during coffee time and especially during Kaiser time. It began to be hard for Mary when many of these friends passed on. Mary was always happy when she was cooking, baking, playing card games, gardening, sewing, or watching the Toronto Blue Jays. She could tell you about any player on the Toronto Blue Jays and go on as to why they seldom made the playoffs. She was a true fan at heart. Mary loved to play Kaiser with her great grandson, Jax. They always made a great team and rarely lost a game.
Church time was also very important to Mary. She always was committed and involved with the church. Family was EVERYTHING to Mary. She always had time to listen, to support and inquire about your day. She never wanted to miss anything. Mary had very special relationships with her daughter Leona, granddaughter Penny and great grandson Jax. He always brought so much joy into her life. When it became too difficult for Mary to attend activities, she couldn't wait to get the updates. Her favorite ending to a conversation would be "LOVE YOU MORE". How truly blessed we have been to have such an inspiring beauty among us for so many years. The Funeral Service to Celebrate Mary's Life will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th St., first right past Briargate Rd.) with Father Ken Beck officiating.
