Passed suddenly Mar 22 of heart attack.

Loving husband, exceptionally proud father, avid street rodder, dedicated minor hockey coach.

Survived by wife Heather, son Richard (Rani), daughter Jacqueline, father Bernie, sisters Gracie, Cathie, neices and nephews. Longtime friends Gary, Jim (Jackie), Ed (Jo). Predeceased by mother (Grace) 2003.

Born June 22, 1950 in Vancouver to Grace and Bernie. Proud to grow up an east ender. Attended John Oliver where he met future wife Heather Oatway, married in 1973 (42 yrs).

Over 35 yrs in automotive lease business starting at Lawson Oats on Broadway in '74, to Richmond Chrysler in '85 and Dueck's On Marine in 2009.

Lifelong street rod hobbyist with many friends made along the way.

Played lacrosse into his 30's. Owner of Discosport's Angels Sr. B Lacrosse team in early 80's. Enjoyed running family business, Hammy Sports in the 80's and 90's. Over 40 years coaching lacrosse and minor hockey culminating in 5 Juvenile hockey provincial championships. 2010 BC Hockey and PCAHA Coach of

Year Award. Inducted into Delta Sports Hall of Fame in 2013. Considered himself lucky to be a small part of his player's lives.

Celebration of Life to be held Sunday April 12, 1:30pm at Delta Town & Country Inn.

So sad to hear of Maurice's passing. My sincere condolences to your Richard and your family. I always enjoyed calling on Maurice. He was always generous of his time and very happy to share his vast knowledge. A caring man and a great mentor. He will be missed.

Heather, Richard, Jacqueline, & Bernie: My sincerest sympathies to you on the loss of such a wonderful man. I have known Maurice for many years, thought of him often, and have a lot of good memories. I will always remember his honesty, integrity, loyalty, and willingness to help and befriend others. We will all miss him.

I am so sorry to hear of Maurice's passing. He was a wonderful man and a great hockey coach. I met Mo when my son played Juvenile hockey for him and found him to be extremely dedicated to the boys. And yes, he was just as excited as the guys when they won the provincials! My thoughts and prayers are with you all. May you be comforted by your many wonderful memories.

I went to school with him in Sir Alexander Mackenzie School.I ran into him a couple of years ago...he had not changed a bit.He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. We attended Sir Alexander Mackenzie & John Oliver High School together & Maurice has always held fond & kind memories for me. We bumped into one another when he was at Hammys Sporting goods in Tsawassen & I was living in Ladner at the time. He will always be remembered!

My sincere condolences to the Hamlin family. I am so sorry for your loss as Maurice was a very special person who touched many lives along his journey.

I had the privilege to know Maurice as a young boy walking up to Disco Sports to buy all my hockey gear and ended up working with him and Richey at Duecks on Marine.

A very powerful man who has left a lasting impression on all that have crossed his path, especially myself.

Maurice's support for Heather and his children in everything they ventured reflected his great love for them. He was a good man.
