Michael Dean "MIKE" DUNLOP

DUNLOP, Michael "MIKE" Dean January 1, 1949 - March 31, 2014 A New Year baby and at just 65, Mike left this world far too young and unexpectedly. After a sudden and brief illness Mike passed with his son Josh, daughter Adrienne and life-long friend Jerry by his side. A comedian of unparalleled magnitude, Mike's quick wit, sense of humour and ability to see the positive in everything made him the most unique of people. Pre-deceased by father Thomas, he is survived by his mother Barbara and sister Cathy, brother-in-law Ken and partner of many years, Carla. Father to Georgia, Adrienne and Joshua, grandfather to Mason, Madison, Dayton, Dallas and Savannah, uncle to James and Megan, he leaves behind a family who greatly mourn his all to early passing. Mike, born and raised on the North Shore was the proverbial "Jack of all trades". From roofing in his early years, to pet store owner, general contractor, builder, real estate agent and property manager, there was nothing he couldn't do. A master water skier in his youth and his love of boating consumed much of his younger years. Later, many hours behind the wheel of his boat were spent teaching so many to perform at the end of a tow rope. He will best be remembered for being the "go to guy" for without fail, whenever you needed a helping hand with something, almost before you could ask he was there. His kindness and generosity were simply a part of his being. A great listener, his wisdom and "suggestions", not to be confused with advice as he would often say, will be missed by his family and many, many friends. He is probably building a deck in heaven as you read this announcement. Mike's desire was to have a celebration of his life when his time came, not a funeral to mourn his loss. A Celebration of life will be held on May 3, 2014, Seymour Golf and Country Club at 2:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Lung Association would be appreciated.
