Michael Joseph LaVigne, age 77, and a longtime Moosic resident, passed away peacefully Monday morning at home after a long battle with cancer.
A proud U.S. veteran, Michael served with the United States Army and was a Convoy Fuel Truck Driver for Operation Iraqi Freedom. For years, he operated and worked for his own trucking company, Michael J. Lavigne Enterprises. He was best known for his love and collection of MG's.
Fearless and invincible, he certainly had a very strong presence about him. Although his family is devastated that cancer won his final battle, they find comfort in knowing he can now rest in peace.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Pranee LaVigne; daughters, Michelle Mauck of Taylor and Sandra Sheppard and husband William of Madison Twp.; grandchildren, Crystal Mauck, Dana Hill and Jeffrey Sheppard and wife, Jenna; great-grandchildren, Davis Sheppard, John Catania, Adam Hill, Linden Sheppard and Ada Sheppard; three siblings and nieces and nephews.
Blessing services are scheduled for Sunday at 6 p.m. at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge, with military honors to follow. Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday between 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Knew Mike way back at Gilchrist when he was an O/O. It was always good to talk when our trucking paths crossed over the years. Great Guy. Sorry for your loss.
