Michael Lloyd Wydra Obituary
Beloved son of Donna (Scott Segin) Jones and Philip (Sandra) Wydra. Beloved brother of David (Amanda) Wydra. He is also survived by multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins. Michael was born in Hoffman Estates, IL on January 2, 1987.
He was affectionately known as "Mikey" to his many friends and coworkers while establishing himself in New York City. Michael grew up in Fox River Grove, IL. He attended Algonquin Road Elementary School, Fox River Grove Middle School, and graduated from Cary Grove High School. He later attended Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City.
He was a highly talented artist, stylist, and craftsman. Michael held many creative fashion and design related positions in New York. He was an intern for Vera Wang at one point, and recently involved in creating a chandelier for a state dinner held at the White House.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 12-4PM on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Highway, Palatine, IL. A Memorial Service will begin at 3PM. For info, 847-359-8020 or

I just found out about this and it breaks my heart. We worked at New China and Marshall Fields together. Hung out all the time before he moved to New York. I was happy for him to move to go on exciting adventures but was sad I would miss him. We had funny nicknames for ourselves. We´d car pool and have dance parties on the way to work every morning. I tell my daughter about the fun we had every once in a while. She loves the stories and has always asked to meet him. I can´t believe he is gone so soon. I will never forget you Scoobs. You were one of my best friends

At the risk of sounding trite - Mikey was one of those people who was effortlessly chic, endlessly talented, and authentic to a fault. He would take scraps home from a project and the very next day you'd see him with the most insanely cool bag - you'd ask "where did you get that?" he'd say "I made it last night. I saw this a similar one on the runway and thought I could make it better." We fell out of touch in covid but I would run into him on the train and was reminded how he was always cooler than me lol. Rest easy <3
